From the 22nd to the 25th of February 2024, we took part in the first Dark Peak Photography Festival.
Staged across our market town of Glossop, with the theme of “NOW & THEN”, photographers were welcomed to respond to the open call and display their photos in local shops, cafes, pubs, and galleries with the chance to win a new film camera.
Alongside the competition, there were a variety of talks, workshops, and galleries working with people of all ages and levels of experience, hosted across multiple venues in Glossop. With the kindness and support of many local organisations and businesses, we were able to bring an exciting, inspiring, and aspirational visual arts festival to the foot of the Dark Peak.
More than just a competition, the weekend brought visitors from a huge radius to our small town, benefiting local small businesses by exposing a wider audience to us. The festival welcomed new people to our area that we are hopeful will return with family and friends.
It is an honour to be a part of such a great community project. I enjoyed seeing so many people out and about in our small town and being able to chat with both local residents and visitors as they viewed our window display.
Many thanks to Dark Peak Photo for allowing us to be involved, and we look forward to taking part again next time!
